Mohsin Naqvi elected PCB Chairman for three-year term

LAHORE: Mohsin Naqvi was elected unopposed as the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday during the meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore.

Election Commissioner and interim PCB chairman Shah Khawar presided over the meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) for the election of the Chairman of PCB.

Shah Khawar announced Mohsin Naqvi’s victory in the elections during the media talk at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

“Mohsin Naqvi was elected unopposed as the Chairman of PCB, he will serve as the chairman for three years starting from today,” said Khawar.

He also shed light on the fact that Naqvi can hold the position of chairman, with his existing position as the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab.

“There is no legal obstacle in assuming the responsibility as caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab and as Chairman PCB,” he added.

“I was given the responsibility to hold the elections by the Patron-in-Chief and the elections were conducted according to the PCB constitution and law,” he concluded.

Notably, Election Commissioner Shah Khawar summoned the meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) for the election of the Chairman of PCB last week.

The notice of the meeting was issued as per the provisions of the constitution of the Pakistan Cricket Board 2014.

Shah Khawar assumed the powers of Chairman of the cricketing body earlier this month after PCB Management Committee chairman Zaka Ashraf stepped down from his post.
