Latham, Conway lead New Zealand’s solid start in second Test

KARACHI: Tom Latham and Devon Conway continued their domination over Pakistan bowlers as the two raised an unbeaten centurion partnership to sail New Zealand to 119/0 before Lunch on the opening day of the second Test, here at National Bank Cricket Arena on Monday.

Blackcaps openers were on the charge after New Zeland opted to bat first as both Latham and Conway raised their respective fifties and dismantled Paksitan’s reinvigorated bowling attack, charged with Naseem Shah and Hasan Ali this time.

The outcomes were no different for Pakistan this time around too as Latham and Conway kept their momentum intact from the first Test, where they made an incredible 183-run opening stand in the first innings while remaining not out in the second.

At the interval, first Test centurion Latham was batting at 67 from 87 balls while Conway made 51 from 94 with Pakistan in desperate search of a breakthrough.

While the Babar-led side made two changes in its playing XI, leaving out spinner Nouman Ali and pacer Mohammad Wasim Jr,  New Zealand released Neil Wagner and included Matt Henry in his place.
